The Collection

I am primarily a landscape/seascape photographer but I have also built up collections of particular places which have a special interest for me such as Colchester (‘Britain’s Oldest Town’).  I have divided the collections as follows:

Coastal
Mersea Island, Brightlingsea, Hunstanton, Wells and Cley are just some of the places that have been photographed. The collection includes photographs taken at different times of day in different lighting conditions.

Pictures taken around North Essex and Norfolk have the theme ‘Tranqillity’. They are especially restful to look at and can be hung anywhere but especially where you can find a bit of peace and quiet!

Bob Fisher

Rural
This is a collection of landscapes from around North Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk taken at different times of year and including rolling fields, ruined abbeys and snowdrops.

Colchester
The collection includes an extensive array of photographs showing this beautiful old town at its very best.

Suffolk
This collection concentrates on three places: Southwold, Cavendish and Clare. The first of these provides the inspiration for most of the collection.

Southwold is, of course, not just famous just for its lighthouse but also for those wonderful beach huts and breakwaters. You’ll find them all in this folder photographed in bright spring sunshine! There’s also the banks and foreshore of the the River Blyth which the locals call the ‘Blackshore’.

Cavendish and Clare are two villages not far from each other in Suffolk and famous for their pubs and thatched cottages. The famous cottages on Cavendish Green or the Priory at Clare provide good starting points for any collection.

Seasonal
East Anglia. It’s not just at Christmas (not often white these days!) that we experience snow and frost. If you are lucky enough to see a combination of freshly fallen snow and brilliant sunshine then it is something you might want to remember long after the snow has melted. You’ll find some of these photos in the collection. You’ll also find pictures taken throughout the year showing the change in colours with each season but with an emphasis on autumn and winter.

Italy
Ah – that beautiful country (‘Che bel paese!’). My pictures are of Venice, Trieste  and Lake Como but more will be added in the future. Enjoy a browse and think of Mediterranean food and sun.

Southern Ireland( Eire)

My wife and I love the West Coast of Ireland, particularly Counties Sligo, Mayo and Clare. In this collection you will find examples of the wonderful landscapes and seascapes that this part of the world has to offer. Don't miss the pictures of the Atlantic sea crashing against the wild west coast of Inisher(Arran Islands) and wonderful colours and majesty of the Cliffs of Moher.

Basildon

In July 2007 the Pilot Phase of the Our Town, Our Heritage Project was completed.  The project was led by Vin Harrop of the Essex Architecture Centre and supported by a team consisting of myself as Photographer, Frances Clamp as children's writer and local historian and Lisa Horner as researcher. This involved Yr 5 pupils ( 9 - 10 yr olds) from five Primary Schools in Basildon - some 250 children - who were shown how to use digital cameras and how to write and find out about the town they live in.

The children, project team. class teachers and assistants, visited sections of a potential Trail which was being piloted for the Heritage Project and took photographs of their section along with myself. Prizes were awarded for the best photos and writing in each of the five participating shools.

As photographer, I was also commissioned separately to produce a number of images of the town which illustrated key aspects of the trail. A selection of these are provided in this gallery. Whether or not you live in the town, you may well like to purchase a print so that you can enjoy one of the fine open spaces or examples of period architecture of which the town boasts.

Top find out more about the history of this fascinating town, log on to: http://www.basildontrail.blogspot.com/ which provides a wealth of details about the town, the trail etc.. You will need to contact Lisa Horner our Researcher, before you do this in order to receive instructions and a password. To do this e mail her on: herron@globalnet.co.uk
